Report: The Eagles actually signed an off-ball linebacker!

Photo by Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images No, seriously! It’s been a pretty busy NFL free agency period for the Philadelphia Eagles but one gaping roster hole has remained unaddressed: off-ball linebacker. That is, until now. The Eagles are signing Devin White to a one-year contract worth “up to $7.5 million,” according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter. While there’s appreciation to be had for Howie Roseman addressing a position of weakness, there are also questions if White is truly a good solution. White certainly brings pedigree to Philly as the former No. 5 overall pick from the 2019 NFL Draft. He doesn’t lack experience with 75 starts in 76 games played over five seasons. White also boasts some athletic tools: White only allowed a 65.5 passer rating when targeted last season, according to Pro Football Reference. That was after allowing a 104.9 passer rating in 2022. Despite this, t

Bryce Huff will wear a new jersey number on the Eagles

Photo by Rich Schultz/Getty Images New look for Philly’s new edge rusher. Bryce Huff plans to wear the No. 0 jersey as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. The 25-year-old edge rusher revealed as much during his introductory press conference on Thursday afternoon. Huff previously wore No. 47 with the New York Jets. Not a great number, though it’s not exactly like he had the pick of the litter after originally signing with them as an undrafted rookie free agent. Huff had worn No. 47 in high school, so there was that connection. Huff then wore No. 55 in college, which is obviously unavailable in Philly. Huff is now the second Eagles player to wear No. 0 since their proposal to allow it was approved last year. D’Andre Swift was the first zero but he left Philly to sign with the Chicago Bears. My official #JerseyNumberAnalytics stance on Huff wearing No. 0 is ... thumbs up. Good look for him. Hopefully the Eagles keep Haason Reddick beca

Report: Eagles had interest in bringing Joe Flacco back to Philly

Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images Jersey Joe instead decided to go to Indy. The Philadelphia Eagles had interest in bringing South Jersey native Joe Flacco back to Philly before he ultimately signed with the Indianapolis Colts, according to a report from Rob Maaddi. Flacco, who turned 39 in January, is coming off an improbably good stretch with the Cleveland Browns that earned him NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors. But the Browns still on the hook for Deshaun Watson’s massive contact (yikes), they decided not to re-sign him. And so Flacco reunited with Colts head coach Shane Steichen, who was his offensive coordinator for half of a season in Philly. Flacco figures to backup Anthony Richardson, who is coming off a shoulder injury that limited him to just four games as a rookie. The Eagles making an offer to Flacco signals that they’re not merely handing the backup quarterback job to 2023 sixth-round pick Tanner McKee after losing Marcu

Report: NFL is looking into potential tampering by the Eagles

Perry Knotts/Getty Images Investigating illegal legal tampering. The NFL is “looking into potential tampering” by the Philadelphia Eagles related to signing Saquon Barkley, according to a report from NFL insider Dan Graziano. He adds that the Atlanta Falcons are also being investigated as it relates to signing Kirk Cousins. The Eagles have already denied any wrongdoing in response to questions about Penn State head coach James Franklin stating that Barkley spoke directly with Howie Roseman on the phone during the NFL’s negotiating window. By the league’s own definition, Roseman talking directly to Barkley prior to the official start of free agency would qualify as impermissible contact. During the negotiating window (which has been commonly referred to as “legal tampering”), teams are permitted to talk to a player’s agent/representation but not the player directly. Which feels like a pretty silly and trivial di

Eagles Film Review: Bryce Huff is a fantastic pass rusher

Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images Deep dive of Philadelphia’s new EDGE signing. In case you somehow missed it, the Eagles agreed to terms with former New York Jets edge rusher Bryce Huff on Monday in a three-year deal worth a maximum of $51.1 million. I think my favorite articles I do all off-season are the free agency film reviews because I love getting to watch new players as well as look at different teams from last season. Huff is a fun player to watch, so this should be a fun read. As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. Let’s go! Stats As always, I’m not the stats guy. So I’ll rely on people who are better than me! Here is a statistical comparison of Haason Reddick, Josh Sweat, and Bryce Huff from last season. pic.twitter.com/7uIUaZcBNT— Shane Haff (@ShaneHaffNFL) March 12, 2024 Bryce Huff led the NFL with a 21.8% pressure rate last season (min. 250 pass rushes).Huff also led the NFL

Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 3/14/24. Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ... Eagles deny violating tampering rule with Saquon Barkley - ESPNSaid Franklin: “For him now to come back and be able to play within the state, in Philadelphia, he said that was one of the first things that Howie said to him on the phone as part of his sales pitch to him was not only the Philadelphia Eagles and that but obviously the connection with Penn State and the fan base as well.” Teams are not allowed to talk directly to players during the negotiating window unless the player represents himself. An Eagles spokesperson said that all recruiting done by the team is facilitated through the agent. The NFL declined to comment on whether it is investigating possible impermissible contact. An Eagles spokesperson said he was unaware of any communication from the league to the team on the subject as of Wednesday ev

Eagles jerseys will now feature the new wordmark instead of the old one

Thumbs up or thumbs down? Hey, remember when the Philadelphia Eagles changed their wordmark back in June 2022? After playing two more seasons with the old wordmark, it looks like the change has finally been reflected on their jerseys for 2024 and beyond. Here’s a side-by-side comparison: Old Wordmark vs. New Workmark side by side:#Eagles pic.twitter.com/KGLfBIpqZW— Eagles Nation (@PHLEaglesNation) March 13, 2024 Zoomed in a bit more ... Old: New: At the time of the change, the new wordmark was pretty unpopular. Just check out these old poll results from when we surveyed the BGN community: People can be resistant to change in general, so there could be an element of that going on here. But I don’t think it’s hard to argue that the aesthetic of the old one is genuinely better. What do you think? Has the new one grown on you at all or are you really going to miss the old one? Does it not

Saquon Barkley will keep his old jersey number with the Eagles

Looks a lot better in midnight green than in blue. The NFL’s new league year officially began at 4:00 PM Eastern on Wednesday, which means teams are now able to formally announce moves that were first reported during the legal tampering period. The Philadelphia Eagles wasted no time announcing the three-year contract they reached with Saquon Barkley: ️BACK IN PA! Welcome to the City of Brotherly Love, @saquon.@Toyota | #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/mB1f7flTgG— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) March 13, 2024 As if there was any doubt, it looks like Saquon will indeed be keeping No. 26 in Philly. That’s what he previously wore with the New York Giants and during his college football days at Penn State. No. 26 had been vacant since the Eagles dealt Terrell Edmunds prior to the trade deadline last season. Prior to Edmunds, it was Miles Sanders — Barkley’s former teammate in State College — who had that number in Philly. Other
